For A Stunning Sun-Kissed Bronze Glow
Bronzers darkens the complexion subtly and should usually be a shade or two darker than your natural skin tone. It’s ideal for contouring and for adding a warm, sun-kissed glow to your skin.
What is the purpose bronzers?
Used all over, bronzer is ideal for giving your face a radiant, tanned look.
Skin bronzer is also used for contouring – in other words, for using makeup to create definition and change the shape of your face.
As contouring makeup, bronzer is often used together with a contouring shade and highlighter. The bronzer and contouring shade create darker, or more shaded, areas on the face. The highlighter creates lighter areas, making parts of the face stand out.
How to apply bronzer
Apply base and concealer to create an even canvas for the bronzer.
Use a wide, fluffy powder brush with a rounded top and swirl it evenly in the bronzer. Then apply in light, even coats to build up colour.
Expert tips for using skin bronzer
For the perfect bronzer application, apply the bronzer in the shape of a “3” on each side of your face, from top to the bottom.
To do this:
-
-
- lightly sweep the brush along the outer sides of your upper forehead and along your hairline
- make a fish face and apply bronzer to your cheekbones
- complete the “3” shape by sweeping bronzer along your jawline
-
Once you’ve done this, follow these bronzer tips:
-
-
- brush lightly over your chin, nose and neck
- do a final dusting on the bridge of your nose and the tip of your chin
- complete the natural glow by lightly applying bronzer to your neck so that it matches the colouring of your face
- blend the bronzer with a fluffy, clean brush
- eliminate any harsh lines with a translucent powder

How to apply bronzer to contour your face
The best approach is actually to use a contour shade with a bronzer. First apply a matte bronzer. Then use a contour shade for a more angular and sculpted appearance.
How to choose bronzer for fair skin
Choose a honey-coloured bronzer for fair skin.
Best bronzers for medium skin
Use a rose-bronze or gold-flecked bronzer for medium skin.
Best bronzer for dark skin
A tawny or amber bronzer works well for a dark skin.
Bronzer on eyelids
Bronzer can be used on eyelids even if you have fair skin. Sweep the bronzer just under your cheekbones and into the sockets of your eyes to add depth.
Copper bronzer
Copper bronzer gives you a sun-kissed look for summer, without the risk of sunburn.
Bronzer on blush
It’s better to use bronzer first and then blush. This is because it’s easier to blend the blush into the bronzer.
